    Like they use US Standard measurements. If I could point out…the title needs to have one word changed…gage is needing a “u” after the “a”. Gauge is the way to go here. All the best, 👌

    Who would have ever known all this. I'm just now (late in life) learning all this, knowing how to put together pieces of metal through methods other than welding is a great tool in my toolbox for metal work. Now all I need is some practice and the necessity of it all will bring out all my inventions. Thanks for the video.

    Uh, last week. Lotta one-off jobs run faster on an engine lathe and are much more satisfying to accomplish. If I wished to be a programmer rather than a machinist I’d be writing code for apps (and probably making a hell of a lot more than either a CNC machine operator or as a machinist.)

      Long ago my Friend and Mentor ran a Lathe in a Gun Barrel Factory. Basically one pass in 8 hours. He's making a light cut, the foreman came by, yelling "That's not a cut" and cranked in the depth of cut... My friend calmly said "That was a finish pass" and walked away. He forgot more than I could ever learn, may he rest in peace. 😢

    • @teekteekteekteek
      @teekteekteekteek 3 дні тому

      @@StachiBCNR33 ok, I thought 120 is the sweet spot. How many do you need? Was is maximum for your machine? - thought about buying DMU50 with 120 in a couple of years..

    • @StachiBCNR33
      @StachiBCNR33 3 дні тому

      @@teekteekteekteek Depends on your Shop and your work. I packed it full 5 days after it arrived. I run it automated with a PHCell 300, low volume, high mix. Aluminum, Steel, Brass and the odd Titanium Part. If you run it automated, you have to have all tools ready and have sister tools for those who brake from time to time. Also depends on techniques used. I have parts that include five inner diameters that need to be precise. Could you mill them? Possibly. But I'd rather bore them. Five magazine slots gone. I thought that 120 tools would get me much further. Now I find myself looking for a new 3 axis machine and asking for the biggest tool magazine available. I'd never buy a machine with only 30 tools again. But that said, my work is kinda specialized.

    • @teekteekteekteek
      @teekteekteekteek 3 дні тому

      @@StachiBCNR33 I got a similar plan with dmu 50 and ph150 or better phcell 300. We are milling a lot of different materials but most of the time aluminum, stainless and grey cast. My plan is 90-100tools fix in the machine and the rest variable for special tools. For a new job you just have to but in some and you are ready to go. You are right having more tool space for really every tool would be a dream - but the price rises and rises…

    • @StachiBCNR33
      @StachiBCNR33 3 дні тому

      @@teekteekteekteek PHCell150 has one issue: You can't setup a pallet while the machine keeps running. There is no dedicated setup station. If the pallet inside the machine is finished and you're still setting up the new job through the door of the PHCell 150, the machine will stop. PHCell 300 with setup station will keep running when you change parts on the pallet. Also mind the maximum pallet size on the PHCell 150. Only with the smaller pallets you get 10 pallets. With all tools inside the machine I can schedule any job at any time. If I need additional time for preparation of a new job, I just schedule an old one and the spindle keeps running.

  • @mattcook544
    @mattcook544 4 дні тому

    As a dmg operator I would highly recommend NOT buying a dmg. We have 2 dmu 60s and they breakdown very often. The main problem are the Fischer spindles however we have had tool changer problems, c axis drift problems, spindle chiller issues, knoll unit problems, drive faults often etc... The machine it self makes fantastic parts and can keep micron tolerances all day BUT the cost of the problems we have had would have bought a 3rd machine. Customer support is great UNTIL you actually get the machine on your floor.
